Heinz-Dieter Meier,  Director in the Federal Police (rtd.) served in several roles in the Federal Police for 42 years. His career started in the Federal Police Aviation Group as a helicopter pilot, soon as a flight instructor and recently as a squadron leader. He participated in several operations with special police forces.  Later he gained his experiences as an adviser of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and was responsible as project manager for several projects around new public management and quality management systems. He designed and implemented a comprehensive reform of the Federal Police ICT-systems and managed the ICT-Division until 2012 as CIO. From 2004 to 2014 additionally part time working as a flight captain in the air rescue service. 2013 he was assigned to the German Aerospace Center as a Senior Advisor in the fields Geospatial Intelligence and Security Research. During this time he was acting als the national coordinator of Copernicus security service. After retirement in the federal police 2015 he started an independent executive management- and strategy consulting activity together with experienced partners.
